The right place to buy weed in North Hollywood is a state-licensed dispensary that shows you lab results, keeps a live menu and hands you a clear receipt. This guide walks through those checks, then gives a short tour of every product category so you know what you're after before you reach the counter.
How to judge a dispensary before you buy
Legal cannabis in Los Angeles comes with a paper trail, and a good shop is happy to show it to you. These five checks tell you most of what you need to know about any dispensary, ours included.
1. A state license number
Every legal California retailer holds a license from the Department of Cannabis Control, and you can look up any number on the state's license search. Ours is C12-0000361-LIC. If a seller can't give you a license number, walk away, and that includes sellers on social media and pop-up shops that come and go.
2. Lab results on request
Every batch sold legally in California passes a state-licensed lab first, with tests for potency, pesticides, residual solvents, microbial contaminants and heavy metals. The results live on a certificate of analysis (COA) tied to the batch number on the package. Ask to see it. Our budtenders can pull up the COA for products on the shelf.
3. A live menu
An accurate menu saves you a wasted trip. Our live menu is linked to the point of sale, so it shows current stock, prices and THC figures rather than a list someone updated last month.
4. Staff who ask questions
A knowledgeable budtender asks what you've tried, what you liked and how you plan to use it before pointing at a jar. They should be able to explain live resin versus distillate, or why an edible takes longer than a joint, in plain words.
5. A clear receipt
California's 15 percent cannabis excise tax has to be stated separately on your receipt, and sales tax is calculated on the total including that excise tax. Our cannabis tax guide breaks down every line.
What's on the shelf: a category-by-category tour
Cannasseurs Club has been serving the San Fernando Valley since 2007, holds a 4.6-star Google rating from more than 650 reviews, and carries a wide shelf of California brands. Here's what each section of the store offers, and where to read more.
Flower
Flower is dried, cured bud that you grind and roll or pack into a bowl. Our flower counter is anchored by Cannasseurs house flower, grown in our own licensed indoor facility in Southern California and sold here with no distributor in between. House jars are sold as eighths, 14 g halves and ounces, with house eighths starting around $15 (prices move with each harvest, so the menu is the final word). Brands we often carry include Ganjeez, Big Chief, Cannabiotix and Presidential. Our guide to choosing flower covers smell, structure and labels.
Pre-rolls
Pre-rolls are ready-to-light joints; some are plain flower and some are infused with concentrate. Cannasseurs house pre-rolls come from the same garden as our house flower, next to brands like Jeeter, STIIIZY and KINGROLL. Browse the pre-roll selection, or read pre-rolls vs flower if you're torn between the two.
Vapes
Vapes heat cannabis oil instead of burning flower. The vape wall usually holds more than 200 carts, pods and disposables, including STIIIZY, Raw Garden, Rove and our own Cannasseurs cartridges. Shop carts, pods and disposables, and see the vape guide for hardware and oil types.
Edibles
Edibles are gummies, chocolates, mints and other foods made with cannabis, capped in California at 10 mg of THC per serving and 100 mg per package. They take longer to come on than smoking, so read the edibles guide before your first one, then browse edibles from brands like Kanha, Wyld and Kiva.
Concentrates
Concentrates such as rosin, live resin, badder and shatter are the plant's resin collected on its own, and they're much stronger than flower, so start with an amount about the size of a grain of rice. Shop concentrates from brands like 710 Labs, Raw Garden and Jetty Extracts, and read the concentrates guide first if you're new to dabbing.
Drinks
Cannabis sodas, seltzers and shots follow the same 10 mg and 100 mg limits as edibles, and many people find them easy to pace by the sip. Brands we often carry include ST IDES, Not Your Father's and Kanha; see the current cannabis drinks.
Wellness
The wellness section holds tinctures measured with a dropper, topicals applied to the skin and capsules with a set dose per capsule, from brands such as Papa & Barkley, Emerald Bay Extracts and ST IDES.

How to read a dispensary menu
Look past the product name. A good listing shows the brand, the category, the package size and the price, and for most products the THC and CBD figures from the lab results. Price per gram is the fairest way to compare flower and pre-rolls across sizes, and serving information matters most for edibles and drinks.
- Brand and producer. Tells you who made it and lets you compare a product with others from the same grower.
- Package size and price. Work out the price per gram or per serving before you compare deals.
- Cannabinoid figures. THC and CBD numbers come from state-required lab testing and should match the package.
- Ingredients and serving size. Worth reading on edibles, drinks and infused pre-rolls.
Labels like indica, sativa and hybrid are handy shopping shorthand, but they do not reliably predict how a product will feel for you. The cannabinoid figures, the terpene notes on the lab results and the format usually tell you more, and a budtender can pull those up.
Menus change quickly, so something you saw last week may have sold out. Check our live menu on the day you plan to visit.
Rules every buyer should know
Store cannabis away from children and pets, never drive after using it, and ask a doctor if you have questions about how it may interact with any medication you take.
- You must be 21 or older with a valid government photo ID. Medical patients can shop from 18 with a valid physician's recommendation.
- Each day, an adult-use customer can buy up to 28.5 grams of flower, 8 grams of concentrate and 6 immature plants.
- No consuming in public, in a vehicle (as driver or passenger) or anywhere tobacco smoking is banned. Keep purchases sealed or in the trunk on the drive home.
- Cannabis can't legally cross state lines, and federal law applies at airport security, so don't fly with it.
Planning your visit
A little prep makes the counter quick.
- Check the live menu before you leave. Stock changes daily, so note a couple of options in each category you're curious about.
- Bring ID and cash. A valid government photo ID is required, and there's an ATM in the store.
- Come any day from 10 AM to 10 PM. The store is open every day of the week.
- Head for Vanowen St. We're at 11307 Vanowen St, just east of Tujunga Ave, between Lankershim Blvd to the west and Vineland Ave to the east. That's about 1.5 miles east of the Vanowen St exit on the 170 and under 2 miles west of the Hollywood Burbank Airport terminal.
Directions and store details are on our North Hollywood dispensary page. If it's your first time in any dispensary, the first-visit page explains what to expect on a first visit.
Frequently asked questions
What payment should I bring?
Bring cash. There's an ATM in the store if you need it.
Is the price on the menu what I'll pay at the register?
If a price is shown as tax-included, yes: the number you see already contains the taxes. If you're not sure how a price is shown, ask before you pay, and see our California cannabis tax guide for how excise and sales tax work.
Do I need a medical recommendation to shop?
No. Adults 21 and over can shop with a valid government photo ID. Medical patients 18 and over need a valid physician's recommendation, and patients who show a state Medical Marijuana Identification Card plus government ID are exempt from sales tax, though excise tax still applies.
How do I get there from the NoHo Arts District?
Take Lankershim Blvd north to Vanowen St and turn right (east); the store is just past Tujunga Ave. It's roughly two miles by car or rideshare, and our NoHo Arts District guide has more.
Is the store convenient from Burbank?
Yes. Burbank has strict limits on cannabis retail, so many Burbank shoppers cross the city line. From Downtown Burbank, take Magnolia Blvd or Burbank Blvd west to Vineland Ave, go north on Vineland, then turn left (west) on Vanowen; the store is less than half a mile along. The Burbank page has the details.
Should I rely on indica and sativa labels?
Not on their own. They are broad shopping labels and do not reliably predict how a product will feel for any one person. The THC and CBD figures, the terpene notes on the lab results and the format usually tell you more, and a budtender can walk you through them.
