The NoHo Arts District sits around Lankershim and Magnolia, roughly two miles south of Cannasseurs Club, a short trip by car or rideshare. Head north on Lankershim to Vanowen St, turn right, and the store is just past Tujunga Ave, open 10 AM to 10 PM every day.

The NoHo Arts District at a glance

The NoHo Arts District is the walkable stretch of North Hollywood centered on Lankershim Blvd and Magnolia Blvd. It is known for its cluster of small, independent theaters, with galleries and public art tucked along the side streets. The El Portal Theatre on Lankershim is an easy landmark to spot, and the Television Academy's headquarters sits near the corner of Lankershim and Magnolia.

It is also one of the easier parts of the Valley to reach without a car. The North Hollywood Metro station, a short walk from Lankershim and Magnolia, is the end of the line for both the B Line and the G Line, so plenty of people arrive by train and walk to their show. If that is your plan, you can still fit in a dispensary stop. It just takes a little planning, because the store is a short ride north rather than a stroll away.

Getting from the Arts District to the store

Cannasseurs Club is at 11307 Vanowen St, roughly two miles north of the Arts District. From Lankershim and Magnolia:

  1. Head north on Lankershim Blvd.
  2. Turn right (east) on Vanowen St.
  3. The store is just past Tujunga Ave, on Vanowen between Lankershim and Vineland Ave.

That is a short trip by car or rideshare, depending on traffic. If you came in on the Metro, the simplest plan is a rideshare from the station to the store and back. Set the drop-off to 11307 Vanowen St, and look for the store just past the Tujunga Ave corner. Traffic varies, so use the directions link on our North Hollywood store page to check live traffic before you set off.

Timing a stop around a show

We are open 10 AM to 10 PM every day, which leaves room on either side of most performances, but a little planning keeps the stop short.

  • Before a matinee or an early evening show: a pre-show stop works well. Check the live route before you leave and allow time at the counter.
  • After an evening show: the store closes at 10 PM. If your show runs late, shop earlier in the day instead of racing the clock.
  • Check the menu first: our live menu is linked to the store's point of sale, so it shows what is actually in stock, with prices and THC figures. Decide what you want before you leave and you will be back on Lankershim in no time.

If you shop before the show, your purchase comes with you. Keep it sealed in its original child-resistant packaging, keep it in a bag, and do not open it at the theater. California bans cannabis use anywhere tobacco smoking is banned, and that includes theater lobbies, seats and restrooms.

Budtender tip: Shopping before a show? Pick something you will not need to open until you are back where you are staying. Sealed packaging travels well in a bag, and you will not be tempted to try it somewhere you should not.

Where you can and cannot consume

This is the part that trips people up. California made adult-use cannabis legal, but it did not make it legal everywhere.

  • Not on the street or in public places. That covers sidewalks, parks, plazas and the station.
  • Not in theaters, bars, restaurants or anywhere else tobacco smoking is banned.
  • Not in a car or a rideshare, whether you are the driver or a passenger. In a vehicle, keep cannabis in a sealed container or in the trunk. If a package has been opened, the trunk is the place for it.
  • Not within 1,000 feet of a school, day care or youth center while children are present.

In practice, that leaves private residences where the owner is fine with it. If you are staying in a hotel or a short-term rental, check its rules before you buy, since many do not allow smoking on the property. And never drive after using cannabis. Driving while impaired is a DUI in California, and it is just as dangerous as it sounds.

Tips for out-of-town visitors

  • Bring ID. You need to be 21 or older with a valid government photo ID, such as a driver's license or a passport. Medical patients 18 to 20 also need a valid physician's recommendation.
  • Bring cash. There is an ATM in the store.
  • Know the limits. Adults 21+ can buy up to 28.5 grams of flower and 8 grams of concentrate per day, which matches the possession limit.
  • Ask about tax. California adds a 15% state cannabis excise tax plus local sales tax. Some shops build it into the shelf price and some add it at the register, so ask if you are not sure. Our California cannabis tax guide explains how it adds up.
  • Start low, go slow. If you are trying edibles, they can take a while to kick in, so wait before taking more. Licensed edibles in California are capped at 10 mg THC per serving and 100 mg per package, so read the label to see how many servings you are holding. Our edibles guide covers serving sizes.
  • Leave it in California. Cannabis cannot legally cross state lines, and federal law applies at airport security, so do not pack any for the flight home, in carry-on or checked bags. Plan your purchase around the length of your stay.

One more geography note: the store is under two miles west of the Hollywood Burbank Airport terminal, which makes it an easy first stop after you land. On the way out, though, nothing comes with you.

What to expect on your first visit

If you have never been to a California dispensary, it is simpler than it looks. Expect an ID check before you shop. After that, a budtender will ask what you are looking for and walk you through options across the whole shelf, from flower and pre-rolls to vapes, edibles and drinks. You can ask to see the lab results for anything; budtenders can pull up the certificate of analysis for a product's batch. Pay in cash, keep your receipt, and your purchase goes home sealed. Nobody minds questions, so if a term on a label is new to you (indica, sativa, hybrid, live resin), just ask what it means. Our first-time visit page walks through each step in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Can I walk from the North Hollywood Metro station to the store?

It is roughly two miles, which is a long walk, so a car or rideshare is the easier option. Head north on Lankershim Blvd to Vanowen St; the directions link shows today's traffic.

Do I need a medical recommendation to shop as a visitor?

No. Adults 21+ can shop with a valid government photo ID such as a driver's license or passport. A physician's recommendation only matters if you are 18 to 20 and shopping as a medical patient.

Can I drive home to another state with what I buy?

No. Cannabis cannot legally cross state lines, even if your home state has legal cannabis. Buy what you plan to use during your stay.

Are your hours the same on weekends?

Yes. We keep the same hours every day of the week, 10 AM to 10 PM.

Where can I read more about California's cannabis rules?

Our California cannabis laws guide covers possession, consumption and driving rules in more detail.
